Standard fare best describes our meals this evening (family of four). Cheeseburger was great for the kids and service was very good. Quite busy, so must be enjoyed by many. Not a great outdoor dining area but if you are just there for drinks, there is a breathy outdoor bar with seating. Decent view of the water from dining room. Yelp is telling me to write more-- nothing more to say.

Average all around. Service was okay at best. Food was not bad, skip the scallops, shrimp were so-so. All in all not bad, but I'd roll the dice on another option before returning.

This is a great place to go and have dinner and to go out to for drinks. The bam bam shrimp is really good and the gazebo is a lot of fun to go to on the weekends ! It's a fun atmosphere and the drinks are pretty cheap too. Be sure to give Ryan the bartender an extra tip at the gazebo! One of the prettiest views in Murrells Inlet too!

Service was GREAT and the food equally awesome. Great value and wine list. Had a party of 7 and no one left disappointed or hungry - such fresh seafood at a very reasonable price -- have tried other inlet restaurants and this is now our favorite

We didn't actually eat here since we got there and they told us it would be an hour wait, which was fine. We got the menu and sat out back overlooking the water, the view was beautiful. But the sign up front said steak and seafood, there were only two steak options on the menu and most off us wanted steak so we went elsewhere. So the 3 stars is based on the view alone.

Family ate out at the gazebo on the deck overlooking the marsh. Ordered the pot for 2 with a one pound lobster. Everything was cooked well but after many trips to Maine it's hard to find great lobster. The sausage, clams, oysters, and corn were good. Lots of old bay seasoning so the taste was very good huge fan of old bay.

  • Eric C.

I ate out on their porch whichever had a nice view of the marsh. I had the fried hot fish platter which was a lot of fried food. Everything was great except the crab cakes. It tasted more like bread than crabs, otherwise the fish, French fries, oysters and shrimp were great. I don't like coleslaw in general and their coleslaw didn't make me like it any more, for what ever that was worth.

We have tried many seafood places in Pawley's and this is our favorite. The food is amazing. The service is great. They have a great menu. The restaurant is nice and clean, and big. It has a pretty view outside. We love it here.

Great food, non-stuffy and casual atmosphere, good service. Not much to dislike! Fun name too. I'm a club member now. :)

Amazing, the atmosphere of the restaurant and the gazebo bar is great, service was also great and lets not forget about the food, I ordered the blackened mahi mahi stuffed with crabmeat...it's currently the best meal I've had in a long time. The menu really has some creative dishes, which really makes me eager to revisit the next time I'm in town

Horrendous staff. Appalling wait policy. Unbelievable wait. Everyone's food was super salty. The kids meals were the best prepared. Also really noisy, no furnishings to absorb chatter. Couldn't hear anyone at my table. Hate everything about it.

The calamari appetizer was delicious, but the fish platter is SO SALTY. I have chest pains writing this.

Went there for the first time on 7/23/15. Food was superb, and service was exceptional. Just make sure you get your name in no later than 8 or 8:15, as they stop seating people around 9ish for the night. But the gazebo bar stays open for drinks and local music. Gazebo out back is nice to relax in and listen to live music. The bar staff is friendly. Will definitely be back!

I've had seafood all over the world. It's hard to get fresh seafood wrong. That being said, I judge seafood by how its prepared and paired. The spinach served with my grouper(very fresh) was the best I've eaten in recent memory. The service was great as well which added to the experience. The decor was dated and tacky. I would absolutely go back.

Great old restaurant overlooking the marsh in Murrels Inlet. i had Oysters Rockefeller and the lobster pot pie. Both were delicious. Followed up with key lime pie with a raspberry drizzle ... SUPERB! Will be back for sure. Ryan was our server....he was friendly helpful and just an all around nice guy! Thanks for a great meal!!

Usual Fried Seafood fare. In for some grub as I was flying solo for the evening. Service was quick and friendly. Food was the typical tourist place fried fare. Filled me up but as my sis says, don't waste calories...

The loudest restaurant I have ever been in. Banquet style dining, everyone crammed into a large room with tables filling up every inch. Food is standard, fried fare, overpriced for what you get and slow service to top it off. Hostess was accommodating & removed the kids meals from our bill (since the food was too spicy to eat). Had that not happened a 1 star rating would have been my preference. Based on my personal experience with this place, I seriously question the validity of reviews on other sites.

  • Nicki M.

Good food, I had a big house salad with blackened shrimp and it was selfish! Salted caramel cheesecake was fabulous and the sampler appetizer was good too. The restaurant is INCREDIBLY noisy! So if You make reservations be prepared! Sitting on the porch might help, but they don't put big groups out there.

Great steamer bucket! Crispy fries and delicious she crab soup. However, on both nights we ate here, service basically dropped off the face of the earth once our dinner hit the table. Had to wait a very long time for the check.

Simple and good. About sums it up. Quaint atmosphere on the marsh. Neat old school interior and a great selection of Southern seafood and other dishes. We're talking Low Country Boil, shrimp and grits and great boiled shrimp. Whew. Almost too much to get around. Throw on a good cocktail and some appetizers, try the steak spring rolls and you have yourself a meal.

This place is just fantastic! I arrived for dinner a little early on a Sunday, 5:15PM. The parking lot seemed very full, so I decided to check out the gazebo. I took the table by the open air window to enjoy the huge creek/marsh view. There was a guitar player playing a relaxing set of familiar songs. Apparently they have entertainment on a daily basis year round. Really spectacular atmosphere. On to the food. They have a more than decent wine selection, and our waiter/bartender was happy to go into the main restaurant to retrieve the list for me. The beer selection was adequate. I started with the crab fondue appetizer. It was really delicious. It was a cheesy she crab soup, basically with flat bread triangles to dip with. It was better than I expected. The two main course dinners that I sampled were the crab meat stuffed mahi, over grits and spinach; and angus beef meatloaf over mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. The mahi was simply one of the best experiences with that fish I have ever had. The meat loaf was cooked perfectly, and had a really interesting mix of flavors. After dinner I left my leftovers at my tables ordered a glass of wine and wandered along the boardwalk for a few minutes. What an experience. Very highly recommended.

I took some friends to Hot Fish Club over the weekend and it was by far the best seafood we have had in Murrells Inlet. The fried shrimp were to die for. Other people in our party got the seafood boil and said it was amazing. The atmosphere is relaxed and they had a great band playing in the background. We sat on the back porch and had a great evening out on the marsh eating wonderful seafood while enjoying each others company. I highly recommend eating here!!

Ambiance is 5 stars. An absolutely gorgeous setting with spectacular waterway and marshland views. Location is also 5 stars with plenty of great music venues, bars, shops and outdoor walkways easily accessible. But I expected better in terms of food and service. The seafood is above average but not great. I felt profits were put in front of quality and value. And a minor detail but telling was that I ordered a local IPA and it was served in a can! No glass and not that cold. As for the service, it was friendly but business like and seemingly scripted. And too fast. Food arrived within minutes so I felt like they were more concerned with flipping tables. That said I'd probably return but not to eat. I'd have a drink in the outside bar overlooking the waterway. And maybe have an appetizer.

My Bride and I spend several long weekends a year at Surfside Beach. We discovered the Hot Fish Club last year and have made a point of dinning there at least once during our stay. The food is just Amazing. I have been working my way through the menu and it has been a great experience ! The Lobster Pot Pie is just awesome !! This time I had the Grouper with spinach and lobster risotto. It was wonderful..... The fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. The risotto was awesome. My Bride had the Snow Crab Legs which she devoured. If you are anywhere in Myrtle Beach, The Hot Fish Club in Murrells Inlet is worth the drive!! PS: They do take reservations.......

This is one of my favorite places to eat at when I am in Mrytle Beach. I would give it five stars but every time Mike and I go there, we order the same things. Plus we always sit at the bar. We have never ventured out to the gazebo in the back. We start with oysters Rockefeller. Oysters baked with spinach, bacon and Parmesan cheese. Not as tasty as they normally are, but good. On to the feast. We share a steam pot. This time we ordered the super steam pot which includes corn (only two pieces), potatoes, sausage, shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, two clusters of crab legs and a 1lb. Lobster all for 44.95. Enough where we could not finish all of it which is unusual for us. The bar staff is very friendly and efficient. I think next time we go, we will order something different. Probably not.

This place has everything going for them: location, hungry patrons willing to wait, an outside tavern/club, a fantastic view, and a wide selection of seafood (not just overpriced "Calabash" which so often is the hook. Yuck). We chose to sit at the bar to eat thereby avoiding the 45-minute wait. Heather took great care of us, the food came out as requested, and was priced reasonably. My wife's mother ordered the fish and chips (a favorite); the cod was lightly coated and cooked perfectly. We ordered the sampler platter and thought it was well prepared (grilled v. fried). Our one regret is that we did not order the lobster pie. Platter after platter of them came from the kitchen and even though full, we salivated as they passed by. Next time!

This is by far my favorite restaurant at Murrells Inlet. Everything I have tried has been amazing. I come here all throughout the summer, and I'm never disappointed. I had the Crab Legs and Grilled Veges tonight. ...., amazingly good!!! Crab legs were cooked to perfection! Service is always good. Great view of Murrells Inlet. I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for some good seafood. You won't be disappointed! I plan to be back many many times!!!!

This is my "go-to" place to eat at Murrell's Inlet. My favorite time to go is around 5 pm. Ask to be seated outside behind the gazebo. I always get the early bird special (flounder, shrimp, oysters, with slaw and fried WHOLE okra YUMMMMM!). The view of the marsh is incredible. The food is so fresh and the service is always excellent. They often have live music, too. Great place to hang out!

The best of the best. We go early and enjoy ourselves immensely. Fish is incomparable. Service is precise and friendly and helpful. Owner and staff are unique; they understand that quality matters. Bravo Cindy! She makes 'it nice'.

Disappointing. We came in with group of 8 for dinner on a Friday night. The wait was reasonable, only about 20 minutes. Everything else was a dud. Our waitress, Serena, was incredibly serious and had zero interest in making sure we had a pleasant experience. She didn't crack a smile once all night. When I asked what type of oysters they had at the raw bar, she had no idea. She said "I think they're Gulf Coast. Oysters aren't in season here". News flash - they're not in season in the gulf coast either! That should have been a clue not to order seafood - but we were at a seafood restaurant, so we pressed on. The food was a major let down. The chowder was thicker than pudding. You literally could turn the cup upside down an nothing would come out. No one ate it, and the waitress didn't notice at all. We ordered two steam pots, which were pretty sparse and the seafood was not fresh. We had to send the oysters back because they smelled bad. One in our party ordered the ribs and fries. She was happy with it. Sad that the only decent dish that was served to our entire party wasn't seafood. I've spent many weekend nights at the outdoor bar at the Hot Fish Club, which I highly recommend. Skip the dining room and enjoy a drink on the inlet.

Went to this restaurant based off a recommendation from a person we met while in vacation. We came early evening so we did not have to deal with a big crowd. Also, the waitress's were very supportive and attentive to our needs. As a result it created us getting our food quickly and timely. We ordered crab soup and sampler platter as appetizers (delicious). I had the stuffed mahi mahi which was awesome and then grits are the best restaurant grits I think I ever had. So why not 5 stars? Well about 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant I got sick from the food, so have to take a star away. But nobody else in my party got sick so will take it as it is and I would definitely go back

Love this place cause it's far enough away from the crazy mega bar/restaurants in Murrells Inlet and based on this one visit it's very good. We did not have reservations but there was seating in the bar area on a first come basis. Lucky for us we were there early enough that there was some seating available. There is no view of the marsh from the bar but the food is king here. I had the Seafood Cloppino which was a 1/2 of a 1lb. lobster, shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels and fresh fish in a spicy tomato sauce that was fabulous. I loved the portion, price and the spicy sauce along with the garlic bread for sopping up the sauce. Our other dinner was the Blackened Mahi stuffed with Crabmeat served over spinach and grits. The portion was huge and there was actually crabmeat in the stuffing. Great flavor especially for a guy who doesn't care to much for grits. We had great service and also happened to be there during 'happy hour' which gave us our well cocktails at half price...love that. Clean restrooms. Open Tuesday thru Sunday for dinner only. Opens at 4pm. There's also a Gazebo where they have live music on the weekends and more 'happy hour' fun. Will be back. .

Fabulous Seafood platter... Our group settled in for an early bird meal of seafood. This location had been the original location for Wayside , which many in our group fondly remembered as a great place to have fun with wonderful food. I can say that the tradition continues as no one had any complaints with their food. I did notice that my hush puppies were a little over fried but overall excellent seafood . My wife and I both agreed that their key-line pie was very good for this area but we have been on a quest to find the best key-lime pie and we still rate the Rainbow Forest in California as the best.. Overall service and attentiveness to our comfort was excellent. You will not be disappointed...

Hot Fish Club was delicious dining! I had the Lobster Pot Pie which was rich and full of lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Parents had Mahi Mahi stuffed with crabmeat and a seafood platter...both were very tasty! Service was great and we will be sure to visit again!!!

My new favorite place at the beach. The tuna appetizer, lobster pot pie, and crab stuffed blackened mahi were all outstanding with a nice New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Add some live music and a view of the waterway what else do you need. Looking forward to checking out more of the menu.

We had John as our server, that dude is the man! Great suggestions for appetizers (Soft Pretzels with Beer Cheese) and beer (Coast Brewing Hop Art). Very good food and if you sit outside there's a great view of the marsh. Plus, I farted at the end of dinner and no one gave me a hard time like they did at Applebees. 10/10 will go again.

It was alright. It felt like a normal beach bar place, but decent food. Slightly old fashioned decor - not much of a modern vibe

I decided to try a restaurant in Murrell's Inlet since Myrtle beach restaurants are an epic fail. Found this place on yelp and decided to try it. I'm only giving it three stars because the waiter was really nice and did his job very well. The inside is nice and there's also a great view of the marsh. The front chairs outside on the porch had lots of pollen on them, so a good wipe down could've been great for guests to sit. All restaurants should remember it's the small details that customers see and hold in their minds as a decision to return to a restaurant or not, also including what their food consists of as well. First up, I tried the corn chowder which tasted pretty good but wasn't hot enough and was a bit too thick in texture. Next I tried the she crab soup which was really disgusting, so I sent it back. For my entree, I tried the crab stuffed shrimp which came with grilled veggies and rice on the side. The shrimp were pretty bland and could've used a little seasoning and could've been grilled because they had more of a boiled taste to them. The crab stuffing just wasn't good. The rice was cold, bland and gummy. The grilled veggies had the right taste but unfortunately they were still a bit too raw, so they had a big bite to them. The waiter was really great and he helps design some of the menu items. He replaced my veggies with whole fried okra. I thought it would be good but it wasn't. The failure was frying whole okra. The batter had a good flavor but it slid right off the okra when trying to bite into it. You couldn't get your teeth through the okra because it just wasn't cooked thoroughly and still had that slimy okra texture to the skin. Slicing the okra into small pieces would've insured they were cooked throughout. To me, they could use a lot of updating on the food, textures, flavors and heating preparation. Some of the food almost made me believe it wasn't cooked upon order. It seems as if some of the items were already made previously. I was told they are in the process of changing some things on the menu, and the okra was one. The crab stuffing should be changed as well, it should have more of a fresh crab, minus whatever else is mixed in it. And they could do without the bread biscuits or whatever they are called. If the menu and items change, I'd go back and give them another try. I hope the chef sees my concerns and take them into consideration. My drink by the way was the best thing I had at the restaurant.

A very interesting menu and the lobster pot pie caught my eye immediately so I ordered that with a cup of she crab soup. The pot pie was excellent with a nice flaky crust and a lot of lobster in a delicious sauce---almost like lobster Thermadore. My wife started with the corn chowder soup and the maple glazed salmon (san the glaze) and she loved it. I tasted the corn chowder and it was better than the crab soup. The Apothiic Red wine was very good. For desert we split a key line pie which was perfectly made with the lime not overpowering like you get sometime. Ed ,our server did an excellent job.

We drove over an hour from our hotel to eat here. Food wise, this place is extremely good. Absolutely no complaints. Service wise, it sucked. Our server was too busy taking alcohol orders from the tables around us. Sorry you got stuck with a family that wanted water and iced tea. Ticked me off a bit too considering I spent over $135 for dinner. Also, took 20 minutes for my server to run my card. I had to go up front and give my card to the host who basically gave it to her. She was at the POS trying to figure out how to ring up a drink called a "white wedding" or something like that. As I expressed, alcohol orders were far more important to her apparently. Won't be back...Too many options...A lot closer too...

The food we ordered was good, not great. The dishes were perfectly plated. I would highly recommend reservations however. We waited for an hour and it was on a Tuesday evening. The service was friendly, but seemed understaffed which made for slow service on bread and refills.

Excellent food and service. If you want fried seafood, it's on the menu... But there's much more on the menu... Since I'm allergic to shellfish, I tried their Angus Beef Meatloaf... It was delicious. Others in the party had the Shrimp & Grits. Two thumbs up.

Food was ok. I have had better. Husband had the cioppino and he had clams and mussels that didn't open (bad) and overall was not impressed at all. My meal was fine. Have had way better and way worse. Nice waitress. Nice cold glass of wine. The building is very old and I'm sorry but could use a make over. Roof was leaking like a sieve all over the dining room. Kind of un appetizing. Better places on the Marshwalk in my opinion.

We were lucky enough to live almost next door to the this place! They have the best Crab legs in the Inlet! And the staff there is a always very friendly!! I would definitely recommend this place for dinner!!!

First and last time for this place. Started out with sampler appetizer, nothing on it was very good. It wasn't horrible but nothing made me say omg this is the bomb. I tried one of their signature dishes, the lobster pot pie. I asked the waiter Jason, how much lobster was in the dish and he said they use the whole lobster tail. Well I guess he meant they use one tail for all they make for that night. I had one piece of lobster, a few small chunks of scallop and the rest was small tasteless shrimp. Also don't order the collard green unless you need a good dose of sodium

I don't give out 5 stars unless I am blown away, but there were a lot of good things that happen here. The first thing is we made our reservation 3 weeks ago by way of answering machine then confirmed it with a person later that day. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation and what could have been a full fiasco, the hostess quickly pushed two 4 tops together to allow our 8 to be seated. While this was fantastic service point, the dining room is small and could easily not have been able to seat us.(which would have been bad) The restaurant is very loud, but the dining room is small and all wood, and well populated so noise seems like almost a given. A romantic quiet night will not be found, but for our 8 it was fine. Food was consistently good. Calamari was really good as it was squid steaks(cut long ways vs rings) This made them so good. Super fresh and tender . Fried flounder, ginger salmon and the grilled grouper over lobster risotto were ordered amongst other things. the salmon was good , but slightly over cooked. Flounder seemed like it was enjoyed, I did not try it. My grouper was very good. Nice combination with the lobster risotto. All in all, it was a fun, good place. Our experience in the myrtle area is Murrell's inlet can be very inconsistent. It was nice to find a place that was good and you can make a reservation. I was told you can make reservations on there website, but for our 8 it was not an option. 6 was the highest number I could fine. They said to make it for 6 and in the comments say it is really 8.

We ate there over Easter, went down on a cool Sunday to eat at Russell's across the street, they are closed on Sundays so we went across the street to the Hot Fish Club and glad we did. We sat at the beautiful bar, which was busy with locals. I got the fried seafood platter, which I usually get grilled or broiled seafood, but was pleasantly surprised. The best seafood platter was the best I ever had. Will go back next weekend.. Try it.

Had surf &turf and it was delicious. The steak was cooked medium to perfection and the lobster tail was fresh to taste. My wife had surf and turf with fantail shrimp and again it was cooked as requested. Our server was courteous and very efficient. Clean environment . Casual attire . Great experience!

The food, atmosphere, and service were great. I had the crab stuffed mahi over grits and spinach, it was one of the best meals I've ever had. There was 1.5 hour wait to eat inside so we ate at the bar in the back and it over looked the inlet. There was hardly anyone in the back bar and they had live music. Great place!

By far and away some of the best food in the inlet! Great food, amazing staff, I just can't say enough great things! Be sure to check out the gazebo bar out back. The drink prices are good, they had a band the night we were there and it's right on the water. I am a Myrtle Beach local and will DEFINITELY return!

I just don't get it... Listed as one of the top restaurants in Murrells Inlet we found the food average at best. Upon seating at a sticky table a couple of utensils needed cleaning. We ordered the Calamari and Lobster & Shrimp Quesadillas for starters. The Quesadillas were very good - the highlight of the evening. The Calamari tasted a bit smokey. The Crab Stuffed Shrimp was a disappointment. Listed as "Colossal" on the menu the shrimp was anything but. The "Old Country Rice" was undercooked. The Seafood Corn Chowder (award winning??) was forgetful but the Crab Cakes - satisfying. Dessert offered only two options - Peanut Butter or Key Lime Pie - we passed. Service was pleasant - no issues there - and we didn't mind waiting 20min for a table as we enjoyed the beautiful Inlet views. But upon returning to Murrells Inlet we would seek other dining options.

Wow I was extremely suprised at the quality of the food. When we first arrived the prices sorta took my breath as everything is around the $20 mark on the menu. However they made up for the stiff prices with virtually perfect service and food that was also above and beyond. My wife had the goat cheese salad which was more than enough for a single dinner serving. The cheese is fried and she absolutely raved about it. I had the fried platter, oysters, shrimp, crab, fish, and baked potato. Again a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also great. There is a small kids play area, a deck you can stand on for pictures, and also a gazebo bar if you are there without the kids. I don't rate restaurants as 5 *s normally, but Hot Fish did it for me. Go and enjoy. We will definitely be back again next year when we are down for our family beach week.

I really enjoyed my dinner at the Hot Fish Club. The fish was well seasoned and hot. The veggie sides of summer squash were cooked just like I like them. However, the cooked spinach was a little slimy for me! Also shared the she crab soup. A little creamy and not as spicy as I would like, but it went really well with the fresh rolls they served. The calamari was delicious (needed to order a second serving because everyone loved it!) The kids menu seemed to please everyone. Corn Hole, a playground and view of the marsh outback makes this a great vacation night out.

I haven't ever eaten at HFC nor have I even been inside the building. I'm sure it's great, but what I love about HFC is the outside bar. Hands down the best bar in the Inlet. I have been a fan of this place since my college days and still make it back there during impromptu trips to Myrtle. They get the best bands, the crowd is a mix of younger and older but everyone is there for a good time. HFC always has good music and books some of the best bands around. No wonder the bands keep coming back to play here, can you blame them with this amazing location. You can hang in the gazebo bar, out on the back deck, or go relax in the backyard playing cornhole or overlooking the inlet. Thanks for the good times Hot Fish!

If you're going to eat in Murrells Inlet then seafood should really be at the top of your agenda. They do call it the seafood capital of South Carolina and Hot Fish Club fits right in. We went for a family dinner on a Saturday, we had a reservation which was probably a good thing as there were only a few open tables. We decided to start out with the bacon wrapped scallops, because quite honestly I'm a sucker for bacon, I mean doesn't everything taste better with bacon?? We also got an order of the bam bam shrimp on our server's recommendation. They pull these little guys out of the creek, very tender, no need to peel them and the spicy sauce was awesome. For the main event I had the low country steampot, which was delicious, and am quite proud to say that I finished the whole thing. A huge pot of seafood, with corn, red potatoes and smoked sausage to boot! You'll need extra napkins, trust me on that! The rest of the group had the lobster pot pie (big thumbs up!), the Grouper Francaise (okay but nothing special), and the stuffed fresh catch, which on this occasion was also grouper (thumbs up!). Our evening was made by our server, Dana, who did a great job. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, gave us plenty of good suggestions and made it a fun evening all around. All in all, a good night and I'd happily go back again,

Good laid back seafood restaurant .... We avoided long weekend wait by sitting on back patio first come first serve.....

While vacationing in Myrtle Beach this passed July, my family and I headed down to the Inlet a couple of times for seafood. Hot Fish Club was my favorite dining experience while on this trip. The atmosphere and service felt more like I was visiting a good friend and sitting right in their own home while they made dinner for me and my family. Any menu questions were answered thoroughly. The menu and specials gave very good options, and not only for seafood fans. My parents had steaks that melted in your mouth! I had the blue crab cakes, which were fantastic! All crab and very little cake, just how I like 'em. :) Everyone in my party, with the exception of my nephew, loved their meal and this included two kids who were under 12. I think my nephew's dish had a dijon sauce on it, and he doesn't like mustard, so he didn't care for it. If I ever make it back to this area of SC, I will definitely make a repeat visit.

Delicious. Service was good and we were seated right away. We did have reservations and it didn't seem too crowded. I had the red snapper and it was good. I had the peanut butter pie which was delicious.

Walked over a mile to get here from down where all of the other restaurants were located. Glad we did, because this place exceeded our expectations. The scallops were the best dish of the night, with the shrimp po boy coming in second. The scallops were tender, juicy, and very flavorful. The po boy had great bread, and it's all about the bread! They put mucho shrimp on there, which were very crisp and fresh. Their bar was nice too, and the outside gazebo was really cool to watch some sports while waiting for the food.

Dinner was great. About a 30 minute wait on a Tuesday evening. The She-crab soup was awesome. Delicious oysters Rockefeller. Well worth the visit.

Awesome! The food was excellent, highly recommend the She crab soup, seared tuna appetizer, lobster pot pie and the crab cakes. Our waiter Ryan was friendly, had great recommendations and was very attentive. Ryan also gave us a piece of history on the place that was founded in 1792! Check this place out!

Decide to try this place out. From the outside it's slightly deceiving. Doesn't really look the greatest from the front and then you get inside and it's a little more classier than anticipated. Food was great. I ordered the Surf & Turf which I thought was reasonably priced and tasted great. The mash potatoes were great. Fillet minion was cooked to perfection and the lobster was nice and juicy.

The drinks are amazing and so is the food and the service. We had Oysters Rockefeller...delish. Onion crusted salmon with grits and asparagus and blackened Mahi stuffed with crab meat and grits and sauteed spinach.......it all could not have been better!! The service was great! Keely was our waitress. She was nice and attentive and got everything right. We ill definitely come back!

Made a reservation for a large group at the beginning of the day. Arrived at the restaurant early and a table was not ready (which was fine). We relocated to the outdoor bar and had a round of drinks and appetizers. We were constantly told that our table was "almost ready" or that they were cleaning it. An HOUR later, the table still was not ready. We left and went next door, where, amazingly!, there was no wait. Avoid this place! Rude staff that lied to us again and again.

Excellent atmosphere! Call ahead and ask for an outdoor seat if the weather is nice- they go fast! The Strawberry Fields drink from the bar was excellent. Lobster pot pie was great. Bam bam shrimp melted in your mouth. The portions are healthy- save room!

Found this little gem when we drove past our planned dinner outing, but thank goodness we stopped. This was AMAZING!!!! Everything ordered was delicious & the waitress was super sweet. Portions were just the right sizes & the drinks were strong. Defiantly will add this place to the "Must Go Back Next Time I Am In The Area" list!!!!

By far the best place I've ever eaten at in the Inlet/Myrtle area! First off we were 40min late for our reservation of seven. They held it for us no problem. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was top notch!! Incredible! I had the blackened mahi stuffed with crab on grits with steamed spinach. Everything was very fresh, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The bam bam shrimp appetizer was very good as well. Even the hush puppies were home made. Great sized portions as well. Will be back next time I'm down here!

Food was SUPER SALTY and not very good. Overpriced for the quality as well. Really wanted to like it, but left very underwhelmed. I got the fish platter with mashed potatoes. The Grouper and mashers were tasty, but as I said, everything else was completely overdosed in salt. Just didn't leave me with that light, fresh seafood feeling... felt heavy and blah afterwards.

We enjoyed this place a lot, food is fresh and well worth the price. Drinks were delicious. We will return next time we are in town.

Good to see that the reputation build by Wayside Inn years ago was being maintained by the new owners (who apparently have been here 11 years). We vacation often in the MB area and have for years but seldom go out anymore because its mostly all chains. This local restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Food was quite tasty. I had fried mixed platter which was cooked well. Seafood, especially shrimp, tasted local and fresh. Was also intrigued by $3.00 imported beer prices. Who does that any more!... To be fair I had two! Would definitely go back

We were searching for a good seafood restaurant. We have been coming to the MB area for years and years and have watched the sad demise of some formerly great places, icons that gave Murrells Inlet its reputation. I particularly wanted a seafood platter like the old days. I found it at the Hot Fish Club last Wednesday. After searching review after review of other establishments, we settled on this place. To our surprise it is housed in a former restaurant, the old Wayside restaurant where we had had splendid meals many years ago. They even display a menu from there...[Seafood Platter $3.00!!] Our server was new, Oliver, I believe his name was. H e was exceptionally attentive and courteous. What he did not know about the menu, he found out quickly, even asking another server to help explain dishes. A plus for sure. We started with appetizers. The Bam Bam Shrimp were excellent and the fried calamari were some of the best ever eaten. They were cut in strips, not rings, relatively thick and fried to a fork tender perfection, served with an above average marinara. We ordered entrees of seafood platter with scallops, an extra $6 charge that in retrospect was unnecessary, Stuffed Shrimp and Lobster Pot Pie. The stuffed shrimp arrived broiled and stuffed with lump crab meat and very little breading. They were excellent. The lobster pot pie had a puff pastry top and was filled with creamy goodness. There were mostly bites of shrimp and scallop but enough lobster to justify the name, at the price. It was wonderfully prepared and filling. The Seafood platter had fried oysters, shrimp, scallops, a crab cake with actual identifiable crab and a piece of flounder. It came with a side of a home made cole slaw, choice of potato,,,mine was baked,,, and a couple of curiously round nuggets that were supposed to be hush puppies: the absolute weakest element on the dish. The taste was fantastic. My founder was slightly over cooked but the other seafood items on the plate were fried to a delicate, juicy perfection. It was what made fried seafood platters so popular. We skipped deserts so I cannot comment. If the Chef would work on his hush puppy recipe, it would be much appreciated. All in all, you cannot go wrong with the atmosphere, prices and food at the Hot Fish Club . We WILL be back.

New favorite seafood restaurant. The family begged to go back the next night to eat again and buy t-shirts. Five words: blackened mahi stuffed with crab. I'll take four, thanks.

We got our "Atlantic Beach Fix" this summer/2013. One of the highlights was getting introduced to the Hot Fish Club. Hmmm good. We ate there 3 times in a 10 day period. Staff was friendly and knowable of the menu. Fresh new ways to eat seafood... Check them out!

Love this place in Murrell's Inlet. Went there two times on our recent visit to Myrtle and both times were well worth it. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. First visit we had grouper caught just that morning in the inlet. Awesome. The homemade potato chips for the fish n chips were excellent. Next trip had some calamari done just right. My daughter loved her steamed oysters, but since I can't seem to get those down, can't verify!!! The grits were perfect. The onion crusted salmon was perfectly done. Topped it off with a chocolate dipped cannoli both nights. And this true blue Italian loved the cannoli! Met the owner on the way out. He's low key and you can tell he loves serving people. Definitely on our go to list now.

We love Murrells inlet and found this near the end of the line on Biz 17. Me, my wife and my daughter got right in on a sunday night. I had the Lobster Pot Pie and my wife had the Blackened mahi, the daughter had the fried shrimp. The food was excellent, the seafood was fresh and tasted like it. There was lots of shrimp and lobster (big chunks) in my lobster pot pie and I really liked it. It was plenty for a big appetite. Service was friendly and attentive. We would go back.

I had the grilled grouper over grits. Fish was excellent quality and cooked perfectly. Great service. Early bird specials and small plates available. Great key lime pie. View of the inlet and creeks makes for nice atmosphere

What a great place to eat and hang out. I think it's a local place, down past most of the places. We had the shrimp and grits that was the BEST!!. Also had some fresh oysters and some drinks. Great service and nice inside. Make sure to visit the Gazebo bar outside. Great view of the inlet ( with chairs placed out by the water) and a rockin' place to put back a couple. It is only about ten mins south of myrtle. When back in town I will skip the rest and head straight back here.

Me and my wife came here when we couldnt decide on a place to eat. I forgot what we had but we had like a crab ball appetizer and a fisherman's platter (I forget the name, might have just been called the fisherman's platter). Waitress couldn't have cared less that we shared the dinner and kept our glasses filled. Im from the Boston area and prefer the SC seafood. I thought that the prices were reasonable and much less than they would have been for the same food up here.

I've been to the Hot Fish Club gazebo bar on several occasions and have always had a great time. Decided to give it a try for dinner based on all the great reviews. BIG mistake. The food was okay...had the shrimp and grits which were good but salty. However it was the noise level that would have me not return. It was early enough that there wasn't a band playing yet, but I would have preferred that over the volume in the dining room. It was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speaking at our own four-top. The dining room had four empty tables. Would hate to have been there when it was full! For the money, you can find MANY better options in both Murrels Inlet and Pawleys. Too bad because the view is great. Word to the owners...add some acoustical tiles or find a way to soften the ceiling or walls to absorb the noise. Would make a world of difference.

Being local and centrally located, we get to eat all along the Strand all year long. We find that if you order the "standard" seafood (i.e. seafood platter), you wind up with something that is nearly always mediocre. The seafood platter here is better than average, either broiled or fried. Where the Hot Fish club stands out is with their specialties and specials. Try the Lobster Pot Pie or, if you're lucky and they have it when you are there, pan seared scallop special.

Yum! We were very pleased with Hot Fish. Hubby and I got the steam pot for two. $50 gets you two lobsters, 3 crab leg clusters, shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, sausage and potatoes. I'm ways skeptical of these deals because I expect them to load up on the sausage and potatoes and skimp on the shellfish. Not this one. Plenty of everything. The calamari app was very good. Strips instead of rings so more fish, less breading. Corn chowder was good but very thick and rich. My sister and I shared a cup and that was enough. Brother-in-law said shrimp and grits were very good. Next time I'd try the lobster pot pie. It looked amazing at the next table. One disappointment were the hush puppies. Small and a little dry. The cocktails looked interesting but not cheap. Maybe they have happy hour? Limited wine list but varied. The restaurant does overlook the marsh but I'm not sure if it was along the marsh walk or not. It was pouring so we didn't even try to go for a walk. Service was prompt. Bathrooms were clean. We had young kids with us who were typically rambunctious and no one seemed annoyed. Very family friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Great atmosphere. I would not give this restaurant 5 stars, or even 4 stars, for food, but the atmosphere is fabulous. Three stars for food - 10 stars for atmosphere. I've been coming to this area for 15 years, and this is in the top 5 restaurants I've enjoyed. Situated on the inlet, beautiful views of the inlet with a big yard and a separate bar, screened with live music and even a separate play area with swings and slide for the kids. We ate on a Saturday evening - no issue getting a table at 5:30, though it was slam packed at 6:45 when we left. We ate outside on the screened porch and were able to watch the kids on the playground and enjoy appetizers and drinks at the same time. Waitstaff was great and very honest about what they liked off the menu and whether there were fillers in the food, i.e. breading in the crab cakes - helped us Marylanders not order the crab cakes. Ordered Bam Bam Shrimp for appetizer - delicious and not super spicy - deep fried with Siracha sauce. Mahi 'stuffed' with crab - light on crab, but still good and reasonably priced. Stuffed shrimp ok. Overall, the best part was enjoying the breeze, having the kids entertained, and listening to the live music. Overall, a very good Murrells Inlet experience.

Beware! This formerly-great restaurant has experienced a change of chef and management. Popular items like the Salmon Florentine and the onion-crusted salmon are off the menu. In addition, the prices seem to have gone up across the board. The new menu items leave little to the imagination, and the place seems to have regressed rather than advanced in culinary offerings.

We happened upon this place on our vacation at the beach, we stopped strictly based on the caliber of cars in the parking lot. Very small neighborhood long island sea food vibe. Cute bar out back, we had excellent crab cakes, scallops, sushi grade tuna prepare properly, and crab stuffed shrimp. The thing that stood out was the small but good wine list at retail (not to mention the frigging good hush puppies).

I don't eat this far south on the Strand often but Murrells Inlet offers several excellent choices. This place has atmosphere and good food. I had broiled fish that was excellent. Being a midwesterner we don't get fresh fish easily. The steaks also looked very good. Nice wine list. Can't wait to go back.

We happened to come upon this place while driving down the road and hoping to find some fresh mussels. We stopped at 3 places before this one, two of which were closed and the third said they only have frozen, not fresh mussles. They did, however, send us to this place. The restaurant was closed, but the gazebo was open in the back. I asked the bartender if they can make mussels and he said they can. So, after a long search for seafood in a place that prides itself on being the seafood capital of SC, I finally had my mussels. They were ok, nothing spectacular. The buffalo wings were really mild, with no spice to them at all. The stuffed mushroom was stuffed with some stuff that I couldn't even eat. We had a couple of drinks and left. I think this place would be awesome at night, but not great during the day. There were barely any people here. Give it a try on a hot summer night. Just don't get the buffalo wings.
